High Country Health Foods History
The Pickard family acquires a small health food corner inside the local grocery store — vitamins, bulk foods, and frozen goods. A small beginning with a big heart.
April 1st, 1991: High Country Health Foods opens its own doors in the 49er Shopping Center. By November, sandwiches are served from a back window — High Country Café is born!
The Pickard family acquires the adjacent space, expanding both the store and giving the Café its own dedicated room with full seating for the community.
Relocation to 5186 Highway 49 North — three times the space! Bursting with colorful organic produce, fully stocked aisles, and an impressive bulk food selection.
